The CRT method

Sam believes you should first earn your nail art stripes by drawing on paper or an Ipad, and once you can perfect the muscle memory, you will find the miniature detailing a breeze (in theory). In the first part of this course you will learn the fundamentals of features and hw Sam uses the simple CRT method to create form.

Prepping, sketching and technique.

This is a beginners guide to portraits, covering the fundamentals. We do not cover the measuring or grid technique in this course, It’s recommended to learn a free style approach to drawing a face before you perfect the proportions or achieve a likeness. That way you will always know what and how to draw and place the features.

Take it easy.

You will draw a woman and man in portrait and a man in side profile. then learn the differences between colour ad shade. using a grey scale will help enhance your colour application, and then doing the face in colour will seen less complicated.

The three portraits are a stepping stone to the next stage.

Got Your eye on this course?

Sam has mastered the art of portraits way before nail art came into her life.  Sam has developed a very simple CRT method.
This method is not about measuring, or copying someone’s likeness. Before you do that, you need to understand the form, and structure of the face and features. The expression and perspectives of each feature and the shadows and highlights to make them come alive.

Not just lip service.

You may not end up with a painting of anyone you know, but you will have a face, and at the end of this course understand how to draw one.

From the basic shapes, expressions and movement of eyes, noses, mouth and ears, you will ear the portrait and side profile.
You will understand how to structure and place the features on your face, using Sam’s CRT method.
You will draw a woman and man in portrait and a man in side profile.
